The Gloves

It's Wednesday and time for the Black & white challenge. Although I took a few photos in Black & white this past week I was not happy with the way that they came out. I guess I need to learn more about taking a "good" monochromatic photo. In the mean time I have taken one of my favorite photos and made it into B&W.

I wanted to make my photo look older and have more texture then the original one. Using Lightroom 3, I brought in my original photo and turned it into B&W automatically. My next step was to use the preset Night man from Totally Rad to obtain the look that I wanted. That was it,easy and fun to do. More importantly I love the look. 

Here is the before and after photo for you. My favorite photo is still the original but I do like the B&W too.

I had so much fun working with this photo of Darcy. Doing the black & white challenge this week made me realize just how little I take my photos in black & white. I need to work on that.  While editing my photo I decided to also make it into a Sepia copy.  

 

 Darcy was not very happy when I took this photo of her. At the time she absolutely hated having her picture taken so it was difficult to get her to smile for me. Not so much now. She has learned to love the camera and smiles any time she is asked to.

Black & White

I found a blog that hosts black and white photos each Wedensday and thought that I would play along.

I took a photo of Wayne getting ready to take a photo during one of our trips to Shaker Village this year. It's one of my favorite B&W photos. The camera that I used to take this picture is my Canon EOS 40D. The lens is the Canon 50 mm. I set the ISO at 200 the F-Stop at F/5.6  and the speed at 1/1000 sec.
