This week I participated in the PPA99-CAS Element of Style - Stars. What a fun challenge this was. I loved using my star punch and bright colors. I've made many birthday cards using the Celebrations DP from Stampin'UP!I am going to miss these papers once they are retired. I normally use earth-tone or pastel colors but the Celebrations DP made me realize just how much fun using brighter colors can be.
Here is my card.
Stamps: Word Play. Card-stock:Whisper White, Real Red, Pacific Point, Pear Pizzazz and Bashful Blue. Inks: Real Red. Punches: Star Extra-Large. DP: Celebrations, Accessories: Perfect Polka Dot Embossing folder, Real Red ribbon, Designer buttons White twine and Dazzling Diamonds. Every thing listed is from SU. I also used a tiny star punch using So Saffron card-stock I put glue on it and dipped it into dazzling diamonds.
I made my digital page this week using a challenge from Soul Scrappers. I made my page simple and let my photo be the focus of the LO. I used the MDS program to make my page and PSE to make my title.
I took this photo of Molly a couple of weeks ago. She and I were driving down a fairly busy road. She spotted a baby turtle in the middle of the road and she asked me to stop the car. I did and she went to the turtle, scooped it up and was getting ready to set it free in the wooded area. Before she did I was able to get a few photos of her with the turtle.
If you would like to use the Word Art that I made for my title on your personal pages or cards feel free to download it at 4Shared.
Photos to share.
Last weekend was a very a busy weekend for Wane and I. I wont go into all that we did but I would love to share a little bit about our weekend.
First of all we had not seen my youngest granddaughter in 8 years. She lives in TN . I do not fly due to fear and I am not able to take long car rides so we have not been able to go to TN. Long story short her grandfather went to TN and together they flew to NH. Wayne and I were invited to a BBQ at her grandfathers home so that we could see her and spend time with her. It was a beautiful day in so many ways. I took lots and lots of photos of Alexis but will share just a few.
Here is Alexis, now 10 years old. She is a lovely well mannered young girl. She is a girly girl who loves the colors pink and blue just like her Mimi (me). :) She is very smart and very sweet. She looks a lot like her dad, my son Jeremy.
Here is a close up shot that I took of her. I now have it in a frame in my living room.
This was one of the last photos that were taken that day. Wayne took this photo of Alexis and I together. I sure do miss her already. Even though we keep in touch by phone it's just not the same as seeing here . She will be back in NH next summer for about two weeks. I intend to spend as much time with her as I possibly can. What a blessing it was to be able to see her,hug her and share some time together.
The very next day was Father's Day. Things did not go as I thought they would but Wayne still had a wonderful Father's Day. I took him out for dinner at one of his favorite steak restaurants. Although I do not eat meat it was great watching him enjoy his dinner.
I gave Wayne a bag full of gifts, I love spoiling him. I do believe that this was one of his favorite gifts. I framed a digital page that I made of him doing what he loves best....Golfing. :) He put it up on his man cave/office wall.
Lastly, I took a photo of the cake and cupcakes that I bought for him. Wayne loves cake. :) All in all he had a great day. And I had lots of fun making his day as special as I could. Monday is Wayne's birthday so he will be getting spoiled again.
Our weather has been just okay this week. It started raining here on Wednesday and continued to rain until tonight. Thankfully, we are going to have a sunny day tomorrow and on Monday. I sure hope the sun stays with us for the rest of the week. Our temperatures were in the 50's and 60's. Crazy right? I sure hope that you have all had better weather then what we have been having so far. Thank you very much for taking the time to stop by to see me. I really do appreciate it. :)
Stay safe, stay cool and Smile. :) It takes one smile to make a dark day seem brighter.
So glad you were able to see Alexis again, Mary! A beautiful photo of you and her. Those cupcakes of Waynes look scrumptious - hope he enjoyed them! Super card too.
