Happy May everyone! Just a month ago many of us were still dealing with the snow and cold weather. Now it seems that we are dealing with high pollen counts and some higher temperatures. As long as the sun is out and it is at least 58 degrees I'm a happy camper. :)
I have a few things to share with you. The card that I made was inspired by the PPA91-Elements of Style-CAS-Buttons challenge.
Here is my card.
Here is what I used.
Stamp set: Word Play. Card-stock: Whisper White Pacific Point, Real red and Pear Pizzazz. Ink: Real Red.Punch:Star Extra Large. The DP that I used is Celebrations. It is one of my favorite papers to use. I also used the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder, Designer buttons, white bakers twine and Pear Pizzazz seam binding ribbon. All items listed are from Stampin'UP! I began making this card for Colleen,my youngest step-daughter who is graduating in a few weeks form Hesser College with an Associates degree in business. When I finished the card, I decided that it would be more fitting for a male. Back to the drawing board for me. :)
This week I participated in one of the scrap challenges at Soul Scrappers. The challenge was to take a photo of your bag and the contents inside of it. The journaling is a list of what is inside your bag and what they say about you. It was a fun challenge and I'm so glad that I decided to play along.
If you would like to read what's in my bag just click on the page. The page will be large enough for you to read my list.
If you like the way that I made the title for my page please feel free to download the simple Word Art that I made here.
This week I have two photos to share with you.
On Easter Sunday evening we received a phone call for Colleen wishing us a Happy Easter. She and I chatted about the day, about her graduating soon etc.. Finally she said " I have good news to tell you and Dad". And with that she told me that she and her boyfriend Peter had found the house that they wanted and were going to be signing the papers to buy it on May 13.I was so excited I could not stop telling her how excited and thrilled I was for them both. I wanted all of the details of course and I got them. :) About 20 minutes later I asked her if she would like to be the one to tell her Dad. Well of course she did. Ha-ha. As soon as I handed Wayne the phone I grabbed my camera fast and started taking photos of him waiting for the precise moment that he would hear the wonderful news that I had heard. I was able to capture that moment!
Wayne and I are looking forward to seeing their home as soon as possible. :)
This past Wedensday,4-27-2010 I had errands to do. Knowing that I wanted to take a photo of what the gas prices are in my area I brought along my camera. As I have all ready mentioned I am keeping a photo journal of our gas prices rising each week. To keep it a little more interesting I have been taking photos of different gas stations each week. :) So here is my gas price photo for this past week.
However, as of yesterday the prices were up as high as 3.95per gallon. I wish I had my camera with me. It ought to be interesting to see what they are for the first week of May! It was such a surprise to see that our gas went up from 3.81 to 3.95 in a matter of a few days. Again, I know that many of you who visit my blog have gas prices that are lots higher then the state of NH. And if you live in Canada or any other country you are absolutely paying more then we are. I get that prices go up as time goes by but I just do not understand why the gas prices need to be going up daily. I could go on about the state of things going on as I get older but I wont. :) I would love to know what you are paying for gas.
On a happier note, I have been able to walk more often and will be continuing to walk every day that I can. I was so close to walking 2 miles today but I knew that I had better not push myself. Perhaps by the end of this week I will be up to 2 miles. Well that has been some of my week. I hope that all of you have a wonderful first week of May. I hope you get lost of sunshine and no stormy weather. Stay safe and smile.Smile. :) Thanks for stopping by to see me.
PS. Here is a link to Sarah Brightman singing the First of May a song from the Bee Gees. I thought the photos were lovely and I am a big fan of Sarah Brightman. :)
Terrific card, Mary! Great page, too. And congrats on their new home - how exciting!!!

Love your card Mary, Wow, these gas prices are killing us, we have a big gas guzzling SUV and it takes a chunk to fill it up. :)
Have a great day.

Hi Mary: Well, we don't have snow but sure have alot of rain. On Thursday we had really high winds. It took part of one of our trees down. I doubt we are going to get some decent spring weather but go right into summer :o( Take care and glad to hear you are back out walking. Take care, Hugs n' Stuff, Lynne

Great graduation card, Mary...but the scrapbook page is my favorite! You always have the neatest ideas for photos! What would we do without our bags to carry all our 'essentials'! Congratulations to Wayne's daughter on her upcoming graduation and new home!

This is a great bright and cheery graduation card. I'm going to start making some tonight.
Gas prices are "driving" (no pun intended) us all crazy. Ours went up to $3.88 today.
