A Merry Christmas Card

Hi Ladies, I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. Wayne and I celebrated it alone this year. We had a very quiet & wonderful day together. I have a card to share with you. I made it for thePPA 70 Sketch Card Challenge. I hope that you will take a few minutes to check out all of the beautiful cards that everyone has made. Lots of ideas to be had too. I made mine using the MDS program. I'm glad that I did this time. I really like the way that I was able to personalize it and I like the way that it came out so I am going to send it to Stampin'UP! to have a few printed up. I hope that you like it. I know that you would all like to see a paper made card and I would have made one using card-stock  but decided to try my hand at a digital Christmas card.

If you want to duplicate this card using card-Stock you will need Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler and very Vanilla.  The DP is Deck the Halls and it is beautiful paper. On the front of my card I used the Christmas Postcard stamp. You will need the Top note die, 1 1/4" square punch, Always Artichoke ink and Cherry Cobbler Seam binding. I used the Barouque script  font to put the year 2010.

To make the center of my card I used Always Artichoke card-stock and Very Vanilla. I used the stamp set Bells & Boughs. I colored it using Crumb Cake ink and I moved the opacity down to about 50%.You would use the stamp off technique if using card-stock. I then used Always Artichoke and added the text that you see also using the Baroque script font. I stamped right over the image. On the back of my card I used the bells from the Bells and Boughs stamp set and underneath I but my name as the designer of the card.  I will be ordering my card on Monday when SU opens.As soon as I get the card back I will take a photo of it and show you what it looks like all printed up. All of this was done using the MDS program from Stampin'UP! It was simple to make and I had lots of fun making it.

Today we had our first snow. It came down very hard but only lasted for about 30 minutes. We got about 1/4"  of snow and it melted away within an hour. It was in the 30's most of the day and as I type this post it is only 24 degrees outside. But it is suppose to get back into the40's by noon time. Winter is here for sure. Speaking of winter that means Christmas is just around the corner. Did any of you go out and do some shopping on Black Friday? This year I elected to stay in and pass on the sales. I still have shopping to do but will do it during the week and I hope to do it quickly. I still have 3 more scrapbooks to finish up and time is a ticking. I have my tree to put up and lots of tags to make for candy jars that I give to Wayne's co-workers and family members. This year the jars will be smaller. :)

Clean & Simple Christmas Card

Hi Ladies. I hope that you have all had a wonderful week.  Mine was a very busy one. With Thanksgiving and Christmas coming  I'm sure that all of you can relate to how hectic life can be at this time of the year. I needed to take a little time to relax and create a little something so I made a Christmas card. I used the PPA69  Clean & Simple challenge. One of the things that you have to do was to add either ribbon or material. I do not know how to sew so using a ribbon was my best way to go.

Here is the card that I made.

 

 Here is what I used.

Punches: Boho Blossoms Extra large, 1 3/8 round punch and 1 3/4 Scallop Circle punch.  Your suppose to use the 1 1/4 inch round but I do not have it.I also used the Eyelet border punch.  Card-stock: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke and Old Olive. I used a piece of the Deck The Halls DP. The sentiment that I used is from the Bells & Boughs Stamp set. All of these items are from Stampin'UP! The red crystals that I  used on the wreath are not from SU. I wanted the loo of little red berries on the wreath.  I will say that making this card was easy. But making the wreath was a bit time consuming. I used the wreath turorial that Dawn Griffith  made.    

OK. So are all of you ready and set for your Thanksgiving  Day?  All I have left to pick up is the turkey and this year instead of making my own chocolate cream ie I am going to buy it. that is if there are any left to be had. :) I sure hope so because I would like to sip the baking this year. I love Pumpkin pie but because it will be only Wayne and I and he does not like Pumpin pie we will have what he likes. :) Unless I can find a store that sells slices of pumpkin pie.

The young lady wearing the black sunglasses is my granddaughter Molly.  She is training to be a firefighter...............yes a firefighter.  So she is at a home that was deliberatly burned down so that she and a few other trainees could learn how to control and deal with a house burning down. Molly is also taking classes to become an EMT. She has a way to go for that but she is determined to become both.  I am very proud of her and wanted to share. :) Than you, Deirdre for being there to take this photo.

Gratitude

Hi Ladies. I have a card to share with you today.It may be the last Thanksgiving Day card that I make. There isn't much time left to make more and get them in the mail in time.  I hope that all of you were able to get as many cards made in time for your family and friends.  :)  It felt so good to use a stamp, a little ink and some paper. This card took me about 10 minutes to make. It is a simple card and very simple to make.

Here is what I used.

 Stamps: Day Of Gratitude stamp set. Card-stock: Very Vanilla & Crumb Cake. Ink: Crumb cake & Early Espresso. Designer paper: Autumn Spice.  I used Pear Pizzazz Poly Ribbon and Basic Pearls.  I popped up the center of the card and added the pearls. All products are fromStampin'UP! 

Wow! A week from today it will be Thanksgiving Day. I hope that all of you will be all set with what you need by this weekend. I just have to get a few things and I  am all set. Of course there is always that last minute thing I seem to need to run out and buy every year.:) Then of course  there are the Christmas sales the day after Thanksgiving Day. Do any of you go to them? I used to but I have decided that this year I will not be going. As a matter of fact I am doing very little Christmas shopping this year. I am going to give each of our older children gift cards from their favorite stores and I am only buying one gift for each grandchild. Too much shopping exhausts me and  Wayne and I have decided that it is time to stop spending so much money at Christmas. I am trying to keep this Christmas as simple as possible and have also decided to keep every Christmas from this year on very simple. So this year it will be about the peace,love and joy of family and friends. I am truly looking forward to it. :)
