A Card Or Page Color Challenge For You

Hi Ladies, tonight I have a challenge to share with you.  Erika Martin is hosting the very first Stampin'UP! Color Challenge  on the Soul Scrappers community. There will be a prize for the winner. :)  If your not familiar with the community I hope that  you will take the time to check it out. We would love to have you join us.  

Here is the color combination:

• So Saffron
• Rich Razzleberry
• Basic Gray
• Basic Black

I thought at first that there was no way that I would be able to work with the above colors together. Wow! I was so wrong. I had a blast making my page and I love these colors together. I will be using this color combo on a card for sure.

Here are the rules for the challenge.

"Create a scrapbook page or a card following the above color combination. It can be about anything you like, there's no theme, no sketch, just use those colors and you're in! Next, upload your the photo of your page or card to the Soul Scrappers Gallery using the challenge tag SUPC1 in your photo tag. Submissions must be uploaded and tagged by 7 pm Eastern time Friday, October 22nd. A winner will be drawn on Saturday morning and added to the top of this challenge thread." 

I know that many of you who visit my blog  make gorgeous cards and scrap pages. How do I know? Because I visit your blogs. :) So I hope that you will join us.

On a personal note (just a quick one tonight) Wayne and I took our traditional wedding anniversary photo this past weekend. I will share one with you as soon as I have a free moment to resize one of the photos. It was a gorgeous weekend and the past 2 days have also been lovely. I took a 2 mile walk yesterday and a short one today. Okay, I have to run. I will be back very soon. Until then Stay safe, stay warm and Smile. :)

 

Two Cards One Color Challenge

Hi Ladies, As you know, I love playing the PPA challenge each week. This week is  the PPA63 Celebrity  Color challenge. To be honest, I had a little trouble with the colors. I just could not imagine putting Melon Mambo together with Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzaz.   But thanks to the MDS program I was able to design and build a card using those colors and I really love the way that it came out. I love using this tool so that I do not waste lots of card-stock making a card that I am  not happy with. After I made my first card I then made a card using real card-stock and ink etc..   I am going to share with you the two cards that I made. The first one is the one I made with the real materials.  The second one is the one that I made using the MDS program. My favorite one is the one I made using the MDS but I would love to know which one you like better or if you even like either of them. :)

Here is what I used:

All products are from Stampin'UP! Card-stock:Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizazz,and Peach parfait. Stamp: sentiment from Occasional Quotes. The DP is from the In Color 6x6 paper stack and is a hostess gift.  Ink: Melon Mambo, Punches: Two-step bird extra large, Photo corners extra large,  and Scallop border punch (oops!) no longer available. I used  grosgrain Melon Mambo and white polka dot ribbon (no longer available) Sorry about that but it was the only Melon Mambo ribbon that I had on hand. I used the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder on my corners. I added a tiny white pearl for the birds eye and popped up the circles so that it looks 3D.

 As you can see the DP paper is different, I used a different sentiment  and I used brackets and  the number 13. My inspiration for this card comes from having 2 young ladies in my family who will both be turning 13 within the next 2 months. I wanted to use the exact same DP and the smaller numbers and brackets on my card above but was not able to. The numbers and brackets that I do have on hand are too large and would not fit. I used the  Melon Mambo grosgrain ribbon that I still do not have and I used a white tiny brad because at this time the pearls are not available to us in the MDS program.  So there you have it.  Once I actually made both cards I realized just how great these colors go togeher so well. What do you think?

Oh wow! It looks like our fall will be short lived this year. Most of the trees have all ready turned or the leaves are off of the trees. We have had 30-40 degree weather very late night until the very early morning. I was so hoping that after the yucky summer we had that we would have a long lovely fall. Oh well, this past year has been a strange one regarding the weather. I can hardly believe that we are all ready in our second week of October. Speaking of October. I would like to take a moment to say Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends. I was told they celebrate it this coming Monday. I hope those of you from Canada all have a wonderful Thanksgiving day. :)

A Thanksgiving Day Card, A Smile Box & A Photo

Hello Ladies, It has been a week since I last blogged. I have been very busy. So what else is new right? :) But I do have things to share with you so I will keep my chatter short.

 

Here is my Card.

 

Here is what I used:

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes. Card-stock: More Mustard, Very Vanilla, Old Olive,  Cajun Craze and Early Espresso. Inks: Tea stain, and Early Espresso. DP is Autumn Spice. I used te sizzix die  Leaves#2, Green button with twine and an Early Espresso satin ribbon. All products are from Stampin'UP!  I love the the Distressing Essentials kit and hope that Su will make more of the distressing inks.  This is a very simple and easy card to mass produce for Thanksgiving.

Here is the Smile box that I made of  Wayne and I at the farm picking apples and having fun. I wish I could have fit more photos into the book but I was not able to. I hope that you enjoy it.

This past weekend Wayne and I went for a walk in the wooded section of our property. I just never know what I'm going to find in there. I came accross a Mushroom that was so bright and colorful that I had to take a photo of it.

 

I have never seen a yellow mushroom, have you? Anyway, I though that I would share it with you. :)
