Hello Ladies. I made a Valentines Day card using only browns and cream. I decided to join in the ODBD challenge  for this month. All you have to do is to use the color brown , punches and  or die cuts. I am also using my card for the Divine Designs Bible Verse 2010 challenge for January. So this card is serving as trippe duty. :) I love when I can do that. I made this card for Wayne and will give it to him on Valentines Day.  Hope he likes it.

Here is what I used.

I used and OBD stamp set , Very Vanilla, Creamy Caramel  and Chocolate Chip card-stock. I also used  Sepia ink, Brown  satin ribbon, tiny cream  pearls , two punches and two die cuts. Oh and I also used designer paper.

Thanks so much to those of you who left  a comment on my previous blog entry. I really appreciate your comments. I decided to go with the simple white page. As much as I loved how the black page printed out I decided that there was just too much black for a 2page layout. If my photos had been larger, I think that it would have been okay using all of that black. Anyway. someone who is kind enough to comment on my blog frequently asked, "but would it print out as well - with so much black?"

Here is my answer. 

Yes! The black background printed out like you would expect black to look. I have a decent printer and I'm certain that is one reason why. I use the Epsom Artisan 810. I love the quality of how my photos and my scrap pages print out. I use SU Whisper White card-stock to print my pages on and honestly the black looks great! If I were to print it on photo paper it would look a little more saturated but glossy. Hope that helps. I also had a friend who I spoke with yesterday and she had a  wonderful suggestion for me. Her idea was to carry over some of the pattern paper to the other page. An awesome idea. :)  It means a lot to me to get your feedback on my projects and cards. Thank you very much.

Personal Ramblings

Not much for me to say today. That's a change huh? :) I was out in the freezing cold yesterday because I had an appointment to go to and then afterward I had to go to two different stores. The wind was so strong and went through my jeans despite the fact that I had long underwear under them. I wore 4 layers up top, plus a scarf, hat, gloves and still it was brutal. I have absolutely no idea how cold the temps were. I know that we were in the single digits last night into this morning. Today I will be staying home and cleaning up a bit and calling some friends and maybe working on a few of my projects and reading my book.   Not very interesting but it is a nice break for me.:)

I hope that all of you are having a very nice week so far. Just think January is almost half way through and before you know it it will be February. Now that is a happy thought. :)

I'm On A Roll Using Black & White

Hello Ladies. Two days ago I made a card with black and white and red. Today, instead of making the cards that I have designed inside of my head I took a little detour. As most of you know I am still working on a digital book to give Wayne as a gift. It is taking me a lot longer then it should be due to my being so busy inside the house. This is the time of the year where  I try and play catch up with organizing and cleaning so that when the spring comes I can spend lots of time outdoors. I kept my pages simple and clean in design because I felt that they should be. I would love to hear what you think about them if you have the time.

 

I used the MDS program.  I could have made my pages in PSE but I love using the My Digital Studio so much that I chose to use it to make at least 98% of the pages for the book I am giving  Wayne. Wayne and I did not have a formal wedding as you can see by the photo. It was not a first marriage for either of us. So keeping our wedding simple was the thing to do. We did  have a few wedding  photos taken professionally. This is the one that I chose for our "wedding" photo. Even though black and white  is usually reserved for the more  formal and elegant wedding photo books , I decided to go with it any way. :)  I do have a scrapbook that I made at least 8years ago of all of the photos of Wayne and I on our wedding day. It just seemed fitting for me to make two  digital pages of that special day since the book  I am making him is a trip down memory lane. All I did was add the designer paper that I wanted to use, the white mat behind our photo, the label punch, 2 black brads and a little journaling on the label. Oh and I also stamped the "Together Forever" on our photo. 

My second page was a toss up of which way I wanted to use the black and white together. So I made 2 pages the same with the colors changed. I can not make up my mind which one I like best.

This one has the black background with white journaling, a flower stamp and 2 scrolls. I also made the photos black and white. These photos were not professionally done. Can you tell ?  :) If you want to see the photo larger please double click on it.

Here is the white page. Because this has no borders it is a little difficult to see where it begins and where it ends.

I know that it is a bit difficult to see where the page begins and ends. All 3 of these pages were made using an 8x8 size. I would love to hear which one you like better. I had lots of fun making these pages. It was fun remembering our special day as I looked at the photos.

 I have had a few people write to me privately asking me some very good questions about the MDS program. If your not interested in what my opinion is about this program then step away from my blog fast! :) I promise to keep this short. Yes!  This program is a very user friendly program. There is a very smalllearning curve as opposed to Photo Shop Elements or other digital programs. I agree that the price is not cheap but a good digital program is never cheap. However, I have a few digital programs and photo programs that were a lot more then what I paid for the MDS. The MDS is not just a digital scrapbook program. So far I have made scrap pages, cards, an invitation, and a flyer. There is so much more to this program that I am still playing with so that I will be able to create more with it. You can print your pages, cards etc... on your home computer, through the Stampin'UP! printing service or through a few chain stores that offer printing.  I am excited to  share with you that SU now offers printing a minimum of 5 pages at a time at 2.95per page. Am I trying to sell you this program? No!  This is my blog and I love sharing things with all of you. I love stampin'UP! products and so that is what I share with you. Once in awhile, I have and will continue to share other cards or pages that I make using other products.

 If you have never tried the MDS program and your curious, then try and find someone who will show you how it works. Also someone  who will let you try it out on their computer. See if you like it. If you do then save your money and go for it. If not then at least you might understand why I love using it and why I can not say enough good things about the program. In the mean time I hope that you have been enjoying the things that I have been making and sharing with you.  Okay I went on a bit longer then I had planned to. Sorry about that.

Personal Ramblings

Whew! Am I long winded tonight or what? Are you nodding off yet? :) I do tend to go on about things I feel passionate about.

We are still in a cold spell here. But on Friday of this week we are suppose to reach 40 degrees. It will feel like a spring day  but  instead of the  flowers coming up we will have snow on the ground. Just 3 and half more months to go and I will be back outdoors taking my walks. Yippee! :) Okay, I am off to start a card and then maybe read some of the new book that I bought. I hope that all of you have an awesome week.  Oh and thanks so much for stopping by. A Red,White & Black Valentines Day Card

Hello Ladies. Last night I made another Valentines Day Card. It was super easy to make so if I want to duplicate this card it would be very easy to do. I chose to use the colors red,black and white,  one of my favorite color combinations to use. I made this card for someone in my family and for this weeks Pals Paper Arts Simple Sketch Challenge .  All products that I used are from Stampin'UP!

Here is what I used.

The card-stock that I used is Whisper White, Basic Black and Real Red.  Ink: Real Red and Basic Black.  The sentiment stamp is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes and I used the I {Love} Love jumbo roller stamp # 117084 on Whisper white card-stock. I used the Full Heart punch and the Photo Corners punch both from the Idea Book and Catalog. I used a button from the  Playground buttons and a button from Button Latte.  I used the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. #117335 I *love* this folder and I am using it a lot. Have you noticed? Ha-ha.   Last but not least I used the new Pinking Hearts Border punch #117649 and a Whisper White Grosgrain ribbon.

 

Personal Ramblings

Not much excitement here. I have been indoors more then I have been out due to the snow showers,  flurries and the cold weather. Today Wayne took me to do a little shopping. It felt great getting out despite the cold. It was 18 degrees but with the wind-chill it felt more zero or below zero. I bought a new book called "True Colors". It's about 3 sisters  and that is all I can tell you right now because I have not read it yet. :) But it sounds good and looks like a very easy read. I guess this would be considered a Chick book?  Have any of you read this book? If so what did you think? After I picked up the book  I went to a craft store and picked up two punches. One that was on sale and one that I was able to  use a coupon on. I spend the majority of my stamping/crafting money on Stampin"Up! but once in awhile I will buy a different product that I like.  Then Wayne and I Were off to Sam's Club so that we could pick up our cleaning products etc.. in bulk. I do not like running out of certain products especially in the winter. I think many of you who live in the Northeast can relate to that. So  that is a little bit of what I have been up to. Not very exciting right? However, getting out today was such a blessing for me.
