Two-10 Minute Snowflake Cards

Hi Ladies. Today I made two very fast and easy cards. As some of you may know by now I participate in the Pals Paper Arts challenge every week. This week the challenge is a theme challenge and the theme is Snowflakes. This was a tad difficult for me because I do not have any snowflake  stamps.  So I made do with what I do have. :) Every thing that I used is from Stampin'UP!

Here is my first card.

I wanted to make this a general winter card and thought that a thank you card would be
a good idea. I used Whisper White, Soft Suede and Real Red card-stock. The designer paper I used is from th holiday catalog and is no longer being sold. I used the Snowflake punch, the Word Window punch and the Modern Label punch. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I used brass brads and the newest embossing folder called Perfect Polka Dots.

I made this card using My Digital Studio from Stampin'UP!. It is a photo card.

 

I used a photo that I took last week, snowflake stamps that are available in the MDS program, embellishments, designer paper and other stamps. I thought this would be a very cool way to send out some cards during the winter just to say hello. All I have to do is print them out and send them. How is that for quick and easy?

Personal Ramblings

I wish  I had lots to tell you but with the bitter cold weather we have been getting I have been limited to where I can go or how long I am able to be outdoors. On Thursday I did my food shopping for the week because I knew that it was going to be brutal on Friday. It was still quite cold Thursday so I did my shopping as fast as I could. On Friday I had an appointment and of course I had to stop off at a few stores because I had forgotten a few things on Thursday. Oh my goodness it was truly quite cold! I had 4layers of clothing on, a scarf, hat and gloves and I was still very cold. Needless to say I went from store to store as quickly as I could and came home as fast as I could. This is not my kind of weather. It is so strange how most of the US is having very cold weather. The states that normally have warm weather this time of the year are experiencing snow and ice. Very strange indeed!

Well, I will be back again when I have more to share with you. In the mean time stay warm, stay safe and Smile.:) Oh and have a wonderful week.

Happy Retirement

Today I made a card for one of  Wayne's friends and co-worker who will be retiring this Friday. Wayne is quite anxious to retire too but he has at least 4 more years to go. In the mean time he has been saying good-bye to many of the men he has worked with for over 30years because they are all retiring. I keep reminding Wayne that his turn will be here before we know it.:)

The card that I made is a spin off of a card that I made and was published in the fall of 2009. I changed it up a bit. The last one was done in different greens. This one I did in browns. I also made other changes and to be honest......I like this one better.  I have looked for the other card that was on my blog so that I could link it to this post but for the life of me I can not find it.

The sentiment is from Stampin'UP!as well as the hodgepodge, Very Vanilla, Kraft and chocolate Chip card-stock.  I used the photo corner punch and the Finial Press Embossing folder from Stampin UP!   

Personal Ramblings

 

I had lots of errands to run on Wednesday but when I was through doing what I needed to do I decided to take a walk. It was 37 degrees out so it did not feel too bad at first. But as I continued walking the wind picked up and it became quite cold. I was able to walk 2miles and wanted to keep going but ny feet and hands were getting very cold.  I was dressed very warm so I knew it was time to go back home. It was so wonderful to just put my ear bud's in and turn up the music and go. Once again, I enjoyed the smell of the crisp air. Are you familiar with the song "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas? I play that a lot because it makes me walk fast and it also makes me happy to hear that song. I love the beat and the words. It is also a great song t walk to when it is cold outside. Ha-ha. Do you have a favorite song you like to walk to or that makes you feel happy? If so please share, I would love to add more "up" songs  to my play-list.

Some snow is on the way today. I am hoping that it holds off until I get my food shopping done. Friday it is going to be in the single didgits with lots of wind so it is going to be a  frigid day and night. No walking for me for the next week. at least I was able to walk twice this January. Who knows what February will bring. Maybe lots of days that will be in the 40's. Well I can hope right?

I Walk

Hello Ladies.   Those of you who follow and read my blog might remember that my daughter asked me to make a scrapbook about myself. Well I have been working on it slowly. As a matter of fact it is taking me longer then it should.  Well I made a new page today for two reasons. One reason is  for the book that I want to make my daughter and the second reason is for my very first digital challenge for Soul Scrappers.  The challenge is called All about Me. If you have some free time today I hope that you will join me.  Doing the challenge for "About Me" is a whole new way of my looking at how I scrap a page about myself. I will explain after I show you the page.

To make my page I used the MDS program from Stampin'UP!. No big surprise there  right? :)  I used the  the Write Stuff designer papers, Write stuff embellishments, Greatest Moments stamps and Torn Edges stamps.  I used several different fonts to do my journaling. Okay, the thing that I have done differently with this page about me that I have never done before is I really thought about it. In this case I thought about whyit is I walk. As a rule I just add some pretty paper add my photo and then just add the date and where the photo was taken. I love that I am learning how to journal more personally about my photos. Make sense? After I made this page I knew that I would not be going back to journaling my pages the same way that I have been for years. 

Personal Ramblings  

This will be brief because I do not have lots to chat about today. I t was 48 degrees here yesterday. A perfect day to go walking expect that we had a rain storm. So no walking for me. We had lots of rain and will remain in a flood watch until 7 AM. I hope my brook is not very high. I wont know until it is light out. But it is over for now. Today when I go to PT it will be 40 degrees. Yay! I know that it will be freezing cold again soon but for a brief time I will enjoy the warmer temps as long as I can. Spring will be here before we know it. Hooray! So that is it from me today. I sure hope that your having a wonderful week. I will return when I have something else to share with you.
