Best Wishes

Not a very catchy title for my blog post but it's the best that I could come up with tonight. :) It has been 16 days since I last blogged and that is a very long time for me. Thank you very much  to so many of you who sent me an  e-mail asking if I am doing okay or if I have fallen off the face of the earth. As you can see I'm still here. :) Stampers and paper crafters are  such caring and very special people. My absence from posting any thing is due to a pinched nerve in my back. I did not have an accident. I just woke up one morning and Ta da....... there it was.   I do have a couple of things to share with you tonight and I hope that you like them.

I made a very simple card a few days ago. Mind you, it took me a few days to put it together but I did it! I used some of the new items from the  Stampin' UP!  Occasions mini catalog that will be available for everyone very soon. I am very impressed with this catalog.  

Here is what I used to make my card.

 

Stamps: Oval All from Stampin'UP!

Inks: Chocolate Chip from SU.

Card-Stock: White 120 lb. pure luxury from Gina K. Designs.  Baja Breeze card-stock and Walk In The Park designer paper from Stampin'UP!

Embellishments: Ribbon from May Arts,  and white buttons.

Tools:large Oval pinch and the new Scallop punch both from Stampin'UP! Cuttle bug Swiss Dots embossing folder. UHU  glue roller and UHU twist and glue. I also used pop dots.

Technique: DP.

The size of my finished card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4". I chose this size due to stamped image I used. Duplicating this card to make a set to give as a gift would be quick and easy.

 

Here is a digital page that I made for the scrapbook that I am making of myself to give to my children. I made this page the day before I was no longer able to sit down for very long. :) I was only 18 months old when this photo was taken so I have no memory of this Christmas. It is the only Christmas photo that I have of myself from when I was a baby, a child or a teenager or a young adult.  A little odd since my father's hobby was photography.

 

Personal Ramblings

I have to keep this part brief which is probably a good thing. :) I'm sure that all of you have lots to do. Wayne and I went to our 2 youngest grandchildren's birthday party this past Saturday. We did not stay long but the time that we were there I had lots of  fun watching the children play. I took lots of photos of them and wish that I could make a Smile Box to share with all of you but I need to keep my time at the computer short.

Our weather is looking great! We have had a few very cold days and even some snow this past Sunday. But today was in the 50'sand the sun was out and it felt great. I went out for a very short walk with Wayne today. It was so nice to have the sun on my face. Our snow is slowly melting and I can actually see some of the ground. Yay! One more week of the sun and all of the snow should be gone. Hooray! How is the weather your way? Are you seeing the tulips coming up yet? I am so excited to see the flowers. It's time we see the colors of nature again.

Bible Verse Challenge

The card that I made over the weekend is for the  monthlyBible verse challenge at SCS.  My card, although very simple and very much my style took a lot longer  to make then it should have. I began making ny card Saturday night and used the colors that I thought would be pretty. I showed my card to Wayne, not all assembled and he liked it. But I decided that it was missing something, that it was just to plain using only two colors. So I started all over again using the same image and began making another card with a different design and different colors. I showed it to Wayne and he said"It's okay but I like the first one better". I wasn't so sure about how I felt, so I then tried a third color combination. Once again Wayne did not care for it and thought that the first one was best. Did I mention that by the third card it was Sunday? So I went back to the very first card did a little change to it and Voila! I liked it. Off I went to show Wayne my final card all finished. "Yes", he said "those are the colors I like and the card looks good". I was happy. :)As I turned to leave the room he then added," Do you always have to use a bow on your cards?" Hmm, I guess there is just no pleasing everyone.  But he did bring up a good question. Ha-ha

Inks: Going Gray from Stampin'UP! Clear EP.

Card-stock: Whisper White and Bashful Blue both from SU. Designer paper is called Delicate Dots and from SU.

Embellishments:Light blue crystals from Icons and gray satin ribbon from Michael's.

Tools: Spellbinders Label One nestabilities. UHUglue roller and Pop dots purchased from Michael's.  Technique: DP and heat embossing.

Using the ink and the EP, I made both the cross and the sentiment raised by heat embossing them.

I hope you enjoyed looking at the pretty spring colors I used to make this card.

Personal Ramblings.

We had a wonderful weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday reached 50 degrees. The sun was shinning and on Saturday there was very little wind. So for the first time since early November 2008, I was able to go outdoors and walk! It felt great to be out walking and breathing  in the fresh air. On Sunday Wayne and I walked together and then we brought my truck to the car wash. My goodness my black truck looked as though it was a very dirty white. We have a garage and my truck is parked in there any time I am not using it. But due to all of the salt on the roads my truck  ended up looking awful. It looks awesome now.:) Today however, I am watching the snow come down. So far we have 5 inches of snow and additional 1-2" is expected before it stops. Oh well, at least we had 2 beautiful days and that certainly lifted my spirits. From here it can only get better.:)

Moose Be Another Birthday

I have lots of birthday cards to make in the next few months. So today I made one of them. As soon as I saw the stamp set Moose from Clear Dollar stamps a few weeks ago I had to have it. The moose is so adorable and I knew that it would make a cute card for our grandson, Caleb who will be turning 5next month.  Every year I do make his birthday card as well as I do for most of the grandchildren. I will admit that I do not make a birthday card for everyone in our family. I know.........bad Mary. :) I try to make the time but when I do not have the time then a family member or friend will get a Hallmark. This does help the economy right? Ha-ha.

Okay here is the card that I made for Caleb.

 

Here is what I used to make the card.

Stamps: Moose fromClear Dollar Stamps.

Inks: Memento Rich Cocoa and Copic Markers.

Card-stock: Whisper White, Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip all from Stampin'UP!  the designer paper is also from SU and is called Parisian Breeze.

Embellishments: Mini buttons, googly eyes,cotton ball and ribbon.

Technique:DT and paper piecing. I paper pieced the party hat.

Tools: Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 2, UHUglue roller and UHU twist and glue. I also used Pop dots that I purchased from Micahels.

To make my little pom pom for the party hat I used a pair of tweezers and pulled some cotton from a Q-tip. After I got as much as I felt I should use I then rolled it into a ball and then glued it to the hat. I have pom poms that I purchased from a store but they were too big to use. So a Q-tip to the rescue. :)

There you have it my little card fro Caleb. I sure hope he likes it. The next Birthday card that I need to make is for Aubrey. She will be 3 years old next week. I have an adorable stamp set that I will be using for her card. So stay tuned if you can.

Personal Ramblings

I will keep this brief because I'm sure that many of you have tons of things to do and do not have time to read about what I have done all week. I sure hope that this will be my last post writing about the snow storm that we got. Monday when I woke up I was very surprised to see that there was a lot of snow. I knew that we were getting some but I figured it would only be a few inches. Well, we got 12 inches of snow. It was certainly beautiful to look at but it is March and I think many of us are tired of seeing the pretty white stuff now. I had the plow man come and plow the driveway again so that Wayne would not have to do it.  I know that it was a huge relief to Wayne. Another storm is coming in very early tomorrow morning but I think it is an ice storm and should be all done by late morning. Then we will be having 50 degree weather on Saturday. Hooray!!! I am looking forward to a warm day and just maybe I might be able to get out and walk too. That would be very cool. :) Other then my being busy all week life has been very quiet and for that I am grateful.
