I have been slowly working on making something for the end of my hall in my home. It's a project that could have been finished in one day but last week when I began my project things came up and I would have to put it aside. Finally, I finished it and I took a few photos to show you what I made. This is not a tutorial because I feel that what I made speaks for itself in the way that it was made. After I share my little stool and candle I have a Smile box that I quickly put together tonight. The photos were taken of the snow that we received on Sunday and Monday.
Okay here is how I made a piece of home deco for my home. Only two rooms in my home are decorated in Primitive Art. I love Primitive things and would have my whole house decorated in that style. However, I live in a small ranch and it would not really look very good. But making a small item for the end of my hall was needed. :)
I bought this wooden stool back in December. I saw it at Jo-Ann fabrics and as soon as I saw it I knew that I could make something cool. The original cost for this 14" stool was 24.95. I bought it on sale for 7.49 . What a steal!
Here is the wooden stool all sanded and painted. I used Olde Mustard paint that I purchased at my local Primitive store. I wish that I had taken better photos of this but it was a last minute thing and I did not have lots of time.
I found this neat unfinished wooden candlestick holder at Michael's for 1.99. All I had to do is sand it a little.
I love to paint. It relaxes me and I always feel a sense of accomplishment. When I was able to paint walls , I painted them often. :) Now I paint smaller objects and it makes me just as happy. When I am painting smaller areas on wooden items I uses a very thin paint brush.
Most people use a larger paint brush to paint wood. Not me, I use foam brushes. Unless the wooden item I am painting is lots bigger then a candlestick holder. :) I use a foam brush because I feel like I get a more even finish and I also feel like that I have more control. The color paint that I used on my candlestick holder is Olde Pewter also purchased from my local Primitive store.
I did not think to take a photo of mycandle stick holder all painted. So here are two photos of my entire finished project.
To finish off my project I added a sage green, cranberry and cream colored wreath with rustic stars. I also added a primitive candle that lights up by using batteries. I would love to tell you that I made both the wreath and the candle but I didn't. However, I intend to start making the wreaths.
I know that this is not a card, a scrap page or a paper craft project but I wanted to share another craft with you that I love. I hope that you enjoyed looking at the photos and seeing how finding just one item can get your imagination going and before you know it something neat can be made for your home.
Next up I have a Smile Box to share with you. I did not have the time that I needed to take awesome photos of the beautiful snow and ice that I was able to see today. I also had no time to edit any of my photos. I will explain why in my personal ramblings. We had snow that began at around 6 PM Sunday night and went right into Monday morning. When I woke up this morning all of the trees had lots of snow and ice on them so I took a bunch of photos and decided to share them. I hope that you enjoy them.
Personal Ramblings
