A Valentine Cupcake

First of all thanks very much to those of you who shared with me your memories with buttons. I love that some of you had grandmothers who let you play with their button collection. I can only imagine how much fun that was. So the next time my grandchildren come by I have every intention of having them play with my collection. Even the older children. :) Thank you so much for sharing. I had so much fun reading your stories.

Today I made another Valentines Day card. One that I would give a teenager or a child. Not to say that I would not give it to an adult. After all aren't we all just kids at heart?  :)

Stamps: Hugs and Kisses from the Kim Hughes collection sold at Cornish Heritage Farms.

Card-Stock: Butter Cream, Perfect Baby Pink and Blush Red Dark all from Prism Papers and can also be purchased from CHF.

Inks: Versafine Sepia ink and Dark Pink  Copic marker.

Designer Paper: Coud9Design called Be Loved. I purchased this paper from Stamping Memories.

Tools : Marvy Uchida Punches and a Paper Piercer.

Embellishments: Gold clip and ribbon.  A red heart from Hero Arts and all of these were purchased from Stamping Memories.Oops I used Ultrafine glitter too.

Once I knew what type of card that I wanted to make. This card  was very simple to make and came together quickly.  I hope you enjoyed looking at it.

What a day we had here in NH. We lost our power where I live very early this morning. We very rarely lose our power so it was quite a surprise to Wayne and myself. Even though our temperature was 50 degrees we had lots of wind.  We also had some rain and then sunshine. It was like another spring day for us. I went out for just a couple of hours today. I would have stayed out lots longer but I had work to do here at home. Just to let you know........Those of you who love the Martha Stewart punches? Michaels has the  newest  heart punch that looks almost as if it has a little lace around it. In my area I got the last one today. But I'm sure there will be more coming. Thanks Tami for the heads up on that. :)

Speaking of new things. Did you know that today was the new release for the Thomas Kinkade stamps. They are like all of the other stamps............gorgeous. If you have not seen them yet then go on over to CHF to see them. The TK designers have done beautiful work using the new releases and can be seen here.

A New Addiction?

A few days ago I said that I would show a picture of my newest addiction.  Tonight I finally have some photo's to share with you. These will not replace my love of ribbon but they are a close second. :) How did this happen to become yet another thing that I *just* had to have?  Shortly after Christmas I hurt my back and was not able to leave my house for 10 days. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I love being outdoors walking and in the winter due to our snow and ice I walk in the Mall or other stores. I love that I am able to get some exercise while walking. But I also love seeing people and  talking with people I know and yes, strangers too. ;) The other thing that I *love* is seeing colors all around me. So when I finally got out of my house late last week I stopped off at a store, saw something that was colorful and I smiled! Almost immediately I was hooked.

BUTTONS??? Yes, buttons!  Look at the colors of these wonderful yet very simplistic little items. If you know me, you will also know that I'm not nuts! :) I just happen to *love* things that have lots and lots of color.

So I went to another store and bought more buttons.

Aren't these gorgeous? Well probably not if you do not like buttons. I have noticed in a number of stamping and scrap-booking magazines that buttons are being used for embellishments on cards, scrap pages and other crafting projects. Why do I have my buttons separated in 2 different glass vases? It helps me to know which companies make or manufacture them. I could have put them all in one huge vase but remembering  where most of them came from would have been very difficult for me.

   

Okay enough all ready with the pictures right? I have more buttons but I have decided to keep them in their packages because they are from designer companies.  I bought some of my  buttons from Stamping Memories. They sell some adorable tiny and very colorful little buttons. I also purchased some awesome buttons at Scrappin' Soul Sisters.  Since buying  just a few new packages of these wonderful little embellishments late last week, I have been buying them every time I go out.  I purchased some of them at Wal-Mart, Joannes and Michaels. Thankfully, these are not an expensive addiction. :). Now, I think it's time I stop buying them and  put some of these on cards and pages. I know that I'm not alone with my new "addiction". Whether  or not you collect buttons I would love to hear what you think of them and if you are currently using them for your paper crafts.

Ginger Blossom Birthday Card

Here it is 2:02 AM. EST and I finished making my card just about an hour ago. I thought about waiting to post it after I got some sleep but I have no idea when that will be. :) So here I am once again up very late while many of you are fast asleep. Jen I may have just massacred that sentence. So when you read this please let me know if I have. :) Most of you know that Jen is my daughter. What you don't know is that she could have been and should have been an English teacher. But I digress. ;)

I had no clue what I would make tonight. I had all kinds of ideas but nothing was working for me. Well, one did but I want to see if I can get it published. :) Anyway, I started cruising the SCS forums. Lo and behold there was a card sketch that caught my eye on the Gina K Forum. So here it is.

Please excuse my imperfections. I did not notice that I messed up my DP placement until I was ready to take a picture of my card. I could have taken it all apart and normally I would but tonight I thought I would cut myself a little slack. The stamp set that I used is called Punchy Words and is from Gina K Designs. All other products are from Stampin'UP! I thought it would be nice to use some of the other things that I have purchased over the past few months. On the Happy Birthday 2 You I used clear EP on top of the rose ink and heated it with my heat tool so that it would have the emboss look. As you can see it was a very easy card to make. So why then did I mess up my placement? I'm human I guess. :)

I sure hope that all of you are having a fantastic weekend so far. If I get a chance today I will take a picture of what I have been buying lately. Oh-oh another addiction. Smile. :)
