Lady Iris - Happy New Year & A Sale

First of all I would like to wish all of you a very happy, healthy, and safe New Year. I hope that all of you are getting ready to bring in 2008. :) It is only an hour away for me.

I had hoped to post before tonight but due to my back going out the day after Christmas I am just now feeling better. So here is the first card that I have made since last week. Although I am not back to being the old me I'm getting better with each passing day and I am so grateful for that. :) Okay enough about me.

This is my first Valentines Day card for 2008.

Stamp: Lady Iris From Cornish Heritage Farms.

Card-Stock: Prism White, Black and Classic White.

Inks: Versafine Onyx Black and Crimson Red.

Designer Paper: Chiyorgami Washi. From Stamping Memories.

Embellishments: Black satin ribbon and gold charm both purchased from Stamping Memories.

I used my new lights and white tent to take this picture. The 2 lights that Wayne bought for me are awesome. However, only one of them has the true color bulb of 250 and the other has a 26 Watts of fluorescent. The white should be lots better as soon as I get the other 250 true light bulb. Not everyone carries them so we had to order it. :) Still I am very happy with how the colors of my card came out.

Okay, it is getting very close to midnight so I want to go and spend time with Wayne and watch the ball drop down in Times Square with him. Have you ever been to Times Square? I have many years ago and it is awesome. I love NYC!

Merry Christmas

Those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile know that I have been getting ready for my Family Christmas party for quite some time.  Well, we had our party yesterday and I do believe that everyone had a very good time. I know that the little ones did by the amount of screeching and laughter that we all heard. The grown ups did lots of talking and laughing as well. :) I I would love to share with all of you some pictures from our family party. Showing them all to you would be very difficult and I am sure quite boring. So I will share a few of them. But first  Wayne and I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. We hope that your day is a day filled with lots of love, happiness, and good health.

It is difficult at times to get everyone to look at the camera. :)

My granddaughter, Molly made me a pillow for my couch in the living room. She was so excited about making this for me that I *had* to open her gift up in front of her. She did an awesome job. I love her gift and I love that it is handmade and from her heart. Look at how happy she is. :) One of the  best gifts I have ever received.

Isn't Aubrey a little doll? At 21 months she is the youngest in our family.

 

Here are Caleb and Juliette. They *love* eating! Especially all of the junk food that I had out  for everyone.

And last but certainly not least to me, this is  a picture of my daughter Jennifer and myself. Jen, is the most wonderful, truthful and strongest  woman I have ever met. I can say nothing but positive things about her. I was very blessed on the day that she was born. :)

So that is it. We had a wonderful time and I look forward to our next family get together. Wayne and I are very lucky to have such great kids. Unfortunately, my son Jeremy, DIL Stephanie and granddaughter Alexis could not make it.  They live in Tenn. It is also unfortunate that Wayne's son Dustin and our grandson Gabriel could not make it. Both Wayne and I have other siblings but they all live a good distance away from us. At any rate we had a wonderful time.

Once again, I hope that all of you have a Merry Christmas and  a very Happy New Year. I will be back in a few days.  I am taking off some much needed time to spend relaxing. Smile. :)

A Vintage Santa Card In Brown

I have been wanting to make a vintage Christmas card ever since I purchased the Santa stamp from Inkadinkado. I believe that I bought it at Stamping Memories. :) I knew that I had to have it because I love vintage stamps and most any thing that has a vintage look. The challenge to myself was to use only brown and cream colors. As you can see that is what I did.  I made this card last night. It is a simple card but I like the look.

I do apologize for the picture. Once again,  the background looks a tad blue. I used Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla card-stock from SU and designer paper from DCWV. I stamped my image using Versafine Vintage Sepia. I *love* this ink for stamps like this one or the Thomas Kinkade stamps. It really picks up all of the detail from the stamp and transfers it to the card-stock beautifully. I added tiny cream colored  pearls and a beautiful dark brown satin ribbon. I used Basic Brown ink from SU to sponge around the edge of the image. That was it Card done. :) I think it looks much prettier in person.

Today was a busy day for me. After I made my weekly trip to Hooksett, NH I went to Concord to pick up a few items at Michaels. Speaking of Michaels they have some new one dollar acrylic stamps if your interested. They also have wrapping paper on sale. :) It seems that lots of stores are having their sales early this year. Anyway, after my trip to Michales I went to Shaw's to buy the rest of the food for my family party. All that I need to pick up now is my granddaughters birthday cake tomorrow and every thing will have been bought. Yay! However, I have a full day of cleaning my house tomorrow and getting things ready for Sunday. Now, I am off to try and finish wrapping my gifts. Whew! Almost all done.
