True Friend Gate Card

This is my very first attempt at making a gate card. Thank you Doreen for showing me your Halloween gate card and for inspiring me to make my very first one. :)

This is the front of my card. I used the stamps set True Friend from Stampin'UP!  Every thing but the pearls on this card are all from Stampin"UP! except for the little pearls. The white pearls are from K& Company. I used Soft Sky and Blue Bayou card-stock. I really love these two colors together. For the background of my card I used Versamark and stamped an image randomly on the Soft sky card-stock. Then I stamped the flower image on the smaller layer of  the Soft Sky using the Blue Bayou ink. I put my image through my Xyron and then sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds all over it so that it would be all glittered. I layered the smaller Blue Bayou card-stock to the soft Sky card-stock  but before I  adhered them together I  used my corner punch and punched each corner. I added a small white pearl to to all 4 of the corners. Then I added my center glittered image and added a larger pearl in the center of that. On the right hand side of my gate card I adhered part of the square using small pop dots.

On the inside of my card all I did was stamp my sentiment. I could have decorated it more but ran out of time.

I have a feeling that this will be the first of many gate cards for me. :)

I had a very nice day today did you? I hope so. I managed to get all of my food shopping done for the week. I enjoyed being outdoors. We had an over cast day and even a little rain but it was still wonderful to be outdoors.

Today Anne and I are going on another road trip together. We are going to a stamp store called Wing Doodle. Anne was there for a brief time and told me that I have got to see the store. So off we are going. It is in Warner, NH which is only a 30 minute drive from where I live. I seem to live in a very location regarding stores. :) The rest of the weekend I will be spending with Wayne. I hope that all of you have a fantastic Labor Day weekend. Smile. :)

A Note

I have had the stamp set True Friend for a couple of weeks.  Ivisited Erika's blog today and after seeing her card using this set I decided that it was time for me use it. Thanks Erika for the inspiration and the motivation. :)

To make my card this tent card I used the True Friend stamp set and a sentiment from the  Circle of Friendship set. Both sets are from Stampin'UP! I used the new Apple Cider Designer Series paper, River Rock, Whisper White, Really Rust and Chocolate Chip card-stock all form SU. The ink that I used is Really Rust. I used the Marvy Uchida punches that I bought from Stamping Memories to make the smaller round circle and the larger round scallop circle. On the scallop circle I used a paper piercer to  to pierce little holes on the make  Chocolate Chip round scallop. I used tiny gold accents on my image to give the image more interest. I adhered both of these circles to my card and using popdots I popped it up a little. To finish my card I added Chocolate grosgrain ribbon and attached my sentiment with a gold safety pin th the ribbon. Hope you like it. :)

Today was a very unpleasant day for me. I was suppose to have a test done early this morning. But due to circumstances beyond my control it did not happen. The worse thing about the whole thing was that I had to stop eating on Wed. at midnight. It was only an hour ago that I finally made myself something to eat. It did not agree with me so  eating today was probably the smartest thing I have done in the past few days. By tomorrow I should be all better and ready to eat just about every thing in sight. Look out Mr. Groundhog. Ha-ha.  I hope that all of you had a wonderful day and were able to enjoy all of it.  Smile. :)

Topper Tutorial

I don't think that I explained how I made my Cupcake Toppers very well when I  posted them a few days ago. I have received a lot of email  asking me questions like "How did you do the back of the topper?" Or " Did you use a toothpick" And lots of ladies wanted to know how I adhered the toothpick to the card- stock. It made me realize that when I first started stamping and making things that I too, did not always understand how something was made. Heck, I still do wonder about some items are made. :) So I made a small tutorial on how I created my Cupcake Toppers. I hope it helps those of you who have never made them. For those of you who have made them I hope you enjoy the pictures. :) Please double click on the pictures so that you can see them better.

Here are the items that you will need. The only thing that I do not have pictured is my Xyron. All items used are from Stampin' UP! with the exception of the glue, toothpicks and the eyes.

You will need:

1. A round punch 1 3/8" and the new SU  round Scallop.

2.A stamp set. I used "Batty For You".

3. Black Ink

4. White gel pen.

4. A strong glue for the toothpick. And glue to adhere the 2 round scallop pieces together.

Stamp your image onto  white card-stock. I used Whisper White from Stampin'UP!

Place your round punch over the image and punch it out.

Punch out 2 black round scallop pieces. Now adhere the stamped image onto the one of the round black scallops. I used double sided tape to do that. I then added white dots using my white gel pen all around the scalloped edges.

Turn your stamped round circle over. I used Crafter's Pick glue. I dabbed the toothpick into the glue and placed the tooth pick in the center of the black scallop. Make sure that the toothpick is in the center of  the image and let it dry.

I then took the second punched out black round scallop, put it through my Xyron and then adhered it together with the first  black round scallop.

To finish the topper all I did was add the little plastic eyes ont to bat and Voila! All done.  In this picture you can see both the front of the topper as  well as  the back.  I hope this very easy tutorial is helpful to those of you who have never made toppers. Another thing that you can do with these is to adhere them to the front of lollipops. Something I plan to do for the little trick-or treaters.
