A Card With A Smile

Tonight I made a birthday card using one of the new Hero Arts stamps. I have seen this stamp at Stamping Memories a few times and I thought about buying it but decided that I really did not need it. Well, I caved in last week and bought it. It is such a pretty stamp.

 

The name of this stamp is called Two Flourish Flowers. Here is how I made my card. I decided that I wanted to use the colors Old Olive and Lavender Lace. So I pulled out my Stampin'UP! markers and I colored in my stamp and stamped it onto Whisper White card-stock.  How easy is that?  Then using Lavender Lace card-stock I made a layer to go under the Whisper White card-stock.  I knew that I wanted to have a background but was not sure what I wanted to use. After looking at the swirls on my image it was a no brainer. I decided to go with the cuttlebug folder called D'Vine Swirl. I used Whisper White card-stock for that. The base of my card is Old Olive card-stock. All card-stock is from SU. Since I love the word "smile" I decided that I wanted to use that on the front of my card. So the sentiment is from the Fancy Flexible Phrases stamp kit also from SU. I originally stamped the word"smile" right next to my image in the upper left hand corner of the card-stock. But I messed up!!! I was almost finished with my card so I had to think quick. What I did was stamp the sentiment on matching card-stock and then punched it out using a 7/8" round punch made by EK Success. Then I stippled a little bit of Lavender Lace ink around the outer part of the circle. When I felt that looked okay I used pop dots and put it where I thought it would look good and would also cover up my mistake. :) I'm happy with it. To finish my card off I used a lavender and white polka dotted ribbon that I purchased from Stamping Memories. Last but not least I added a little white pearl on each of the Lavender colored flowers.  These pearls are from K&Company and I bought them at Michaels.  I am happy with the way that this card came out. It reminds me of spring and was easy to make.

Inside Scrapbooking

I received a copy of the DVD Inside Scrap-booking on Saturday. I finally had a chance this evening to  sit down and watch it. Have you seen this DVD yet? It is a hoot! Molly is the main character and she is just that "a character" She really made me laugh. Especially when she went to the hills to get some inspiration. Watching her run cracked me up. Her husband and all scrap-booking  husbands in this short movie are called" Scrubbies". Love that nickname.

A Ribbon Swatch

First let me say that when Anne and I went shopping at Michaels yesterday we had a blast. We were oohing and ahhing over all of the new items that are now available at this store. I'm sure that other people shopping could clearly hear things like "Oh my gosh Anne, look at this". Or "Mary look at this". Over and over we were doing that. In between our looking and touching things one of us would knock down one of the signs (accidentally) and then the laughter would begin. I felt like a Little kid in a candy store but at times I was like a bull in a china shop. Here is what I learned about myself yesterday.

I learned that I am a ribbon addict! You would have thought I would have figured that out all by myself but it took my good friend Anne to help me realize it. I *love* ribbon. Love, love, love it. Well, while we were in the ribbon aisles Anne would point out different ribbons to me and I kept saying, "I have it" Once in awhile though she would point to ribbons that I did not have and I would Say"Oh I have to have that one" So in my carriage it would go. There were a few times I told her that I was not sure if I had a ribbon that she would show me. So Anne suggested that I make a ribbon swatch like Michaels has up at their ribbon section so that I would not buy ribbons I all ready have. I have done that frequently. :) I counted how many ribbons I put on my ring and there are 66 different styles on it. I know that it does not show in the picture. Bear in mind that Those are just my patterned ribbons from Michaels. I have plain grosgrain, organdy ribbon  and lots more patterned ribbons from Other stores that I go to.So what do yo think? Do you think I need to attend a ribbon addicts support group? Is there even such a thing. :) Seriously, after throwing in 13 new spools of ribbon into my carriage yesterday and then buying 3 more today I am out of control. Time to stop th insanity.   Time to make a card soon and use some of my ribbons.

What's your stamping addiction? I would love to hear about it. Also does anyone have a really good idea how I can store all of my ribbon so that I can have it out in my room and not in draws?
