I'm not sure which stamping magazine I read where some cards were made using photos as the main image. I can not even remember how long ago it was that I saw these cards. I was fooling around with one of my favorite photos of flowers that I took this summer and decided to show you one way that I used to make cards with my photographs and how I used the same photo to make a different card. I hope that you like them.
My first thought was to inset my photo into a card that is made specifically for your photos. I used these types of cards about 10 years ago when I owned a company called Sunshine Greetings. I sold my cards at local gift shops and through the Internet. I did special orders for many women who owned their own businesses. I did this for 2 years and did quite well. Unfortunately I became ill and had to give up my business. But that's cool. Had I not stopped doing what I was doing I never would have leaned how to scrapbook or stamp. ;) If you are interested in what type of card I used here and have for many years then visit Photograher's Edge. I think you will enjoy looking at their site.
Here is the card that I made using the same photo but this time I used card-stock and ink.
To make this card I used Chocolate Chip and Old Olive card-stock from Stampin UP! I used the stamp Bloom with Abandon from Cornish Heritage Farms. I love that sentiment. :)I used Brilliance Moonlight White ink. Because I had never made a card using my photos with card-stock I had no idea what type of adhesive I could use and not ruin my photo. Recently I was sent the UHU glue stick. I decided to try it and I am so glad that I did. It works wonderful on this type of project. It is acid free so this is great for scrapbooking too. :) I cut my photo so that I would have enough room to stamp my sentiment right onto the card-stock. Iused the small window punch from SU to thread my ribbon through the Old Olive card-stock. The ribbon that I used is from May Arts and I purchased it from Stamping Memories. Finished card size is: 5"x7".
The next time your looking at all of the wonderful nature pictures you have taken and you have not scrapbooked them think about pairing some up with some card-stock that you have on hand. I think that the recipient of a card using one of your photos would be thrilled.
If your in a hurry please skip this part of my post. I know that some of you like to see photos of Wayne and I doing fun things. On Monday Wayne and I went to York Beach, Maine. Oh how I wish I could buy a home there right on the ocean front. I *love* the ocean. We of course took pictures of the Nubble Light, the beach and the animals at York Wild Kingdom. I will spare you the 700+ pictures that I took. :) But here are a few of Wayne and I.
I have lots and lots of pictures of the birds, and animals that I took at the zoo too but I thought that I would stop here.
Wayne and I will be spending the long weekend by taking a day trip to Glens Falls . It is about 90 miles away from where we live. I am hoping to get some beautiful waterfall photos. We will also be having BBQ's and enjoying the last days of summer. I hope that what ever you do during this long weekend that you will be able to spend some time outdoors enjoying the warm sunny days. Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend. Smile. :)
