Supplies you will need:
- Brass Stencil
- Translucent Embossing Paste
- Stencil Brushes
- Ink Pads ( I used Stampin' UP!) Mellow Moss, Regal Rose, Brocade Blue and Close to Cocoa.
- Card-Stock (I used Stampin'UP) Whisper White, Mellow Moss and Bashful Blue
- Spatula for paste
- Glitter ( I used Stampin'UP! ) Dazzling Diamonds
- Painters Tape
Step 1. Place your brass stencil on your card-stock. Tape the top of the stencil with your painters tape first.
Step 2. Tape the other three sides so that all four sides of your stencil are in place.
Step 3. Using one of your stencil brushes begin coloring the stencil image with the inks that you have chosen.
This is how it should look when you are all finished coloring in your stencil.
Step 4. Using your spatula scoop a medium amount of embossing paste onto the back of your spatula. If you put too much on your image will come out too thick. Not enough and you may not be able to cover all of your image with just a couple of swipes.
Step 5. Swipe the embossing paste at a diagonal angle over your stencil. I find that I get better coverage doing it this way. Try to do this only 2-3 times. The less you need to go over the stencil with the paste the better it will look. Remember not to put too much paste on. (like I did).
Step 6. Begin taking your painters tape off. I started at the right side and went around. Always leave your top piece on last. This will keep your stencil anchored when you are ready to lift it up off of your card-stock.
Step 7. Using your fingers from both hands gently lift up the bottom of your stencil and keep lifting it until you have reached the top painters tape. Once you have reached the tape you are home free. Now pull it and the tape away from your card-stock.
Step 8. Now using your glitter or Dazzling Diamonds glitter(my favorite) sprinkle it all over your image covered with wet embossing paste. Once you have done that let it sit about 15 seconds and than shake off all of the excess onto white paper so that you can put the unused glitter back into the jar.
Use a small dry paint brush to sweep away any excess glitter that you may have on your card-stock.
Step 9. Let your image dry for a few hours. If you put the paste on a little too heavy (Like I did) than let it dry over night.Once the image is dry yo can assemble your card and stamp what ever sentiment that you would like and your card is finished.
I normally do not put my paste on as thick as I did on this card but because I was trying to apply the paste and take pictures and time it all just right I messed up a bit at the upper left hand side of the card. It is a bit thicker up there. But it looks okay. It looks more dimensional.
Side note. I apologize for the way that my hands look. They are very rough and dry looking due to all of the crafting that I have been doing, the house cleaning that I have been doing, the cold weather and well, because I am getting old. :) I have no idea why my hands look red though.
I hope that this tutorial will be helpful to you and that you find it easy to use. If you have any questions please feel free to write me.
Final Note: I was taught this technique from a class that I took at Stamping Memories some time in early 2006.

Great tutorial. I have paste, but I don't think that it is transluscent...may have to get me some of that! Love the finishing touch of the "sparklie" stuff. Thanks for going to all the effort to post this for us!

I love this technique - it's one that I don't always remember to pull out and do... Your 'paste' cards are stunningly gorgeous - I've been admiring them here on your blog for a while now. Thanks for the photo tutorial - you really show how easy this very impressive technique can be. BTW, I don't think your hands look bad at all!
